This week I am staying in one of the best hotels in Switzerland. Having seen the CHF 14 price of a cappuccino at the Mandarin, I had two thoughts: first, that this was up to now the most expensive cappuccino I have ever come across (does anyone know a place with a more expensive one?), and second, that this must be one of the best specialty coffees in the world.
Imagine my horror when a cup of tasteless, hot milky water with a tablespoon of cocoa on top was served. I immediately sent back the coffee and asked for a better one. The second one was drinkable…but that’s all. I would not have had the nerve to charge more than CHF 4.
